Luméa Shell Buttons are carefully cut from the vibrant blue green nacre of abalone shell. The colouring and texture of each piece is always slightly different due to the natural variation of sea shells. Use Luméa Paua Shell Buttons to connect people with nature through fashion. Luméa can provide either the semi processed shell blank, which you can then finish as you like, or the finished button ready for application.

Luméa Shell Blanks are produced by experienced craftspeople, who know which part of the shell make the best blanks for shell button. Due to the thin nature of the abalone shell, it is the inside, concave side of the shell used as the top, while the back will still have a layer of skin to ensure they are not too brittle. In this form, the edges, top and bottom are still rough. A beautiful, unique natural product with vibrant blue, green and pink hues.
Finished Button
Luméa Finished Shell Buttons are produced by experienced button finishers using state of the art machines, to size, drill and polish the buttons. Due to the thin nature of the abalone shell, it is the inside, concave side of the shell used as the face, while the back will still have a layer of skin to ensure they are not too brittle. In this form, the edges, face and backside have been polished and smoothed, with two simple holes drilled. A beautiful, unique natural embellishment with vibrant blue, green and pink hues.
Uses
Shell blanks are used by button finishers, who prefer to focus on the fine art of finishing the shell button and not deal with the raw material. Blanks can be made to your specific size requirements, the thickness will vary.
With unique vibrant colours, this button is commonly used as a feature fashion item, in both clothing and accessories. It has a completely organic finish, where the natural rainbow of colours will illuminate in changing lights. Looks great paired with dark or light neutral colours.
